Toilet Paper Everywhere But a Toilet

August 26th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

In Cambodia, many restaurants will kindly ask their guests to toss their toilet paper into a trash bin vs the toilet as it will clog the thing.

Also toilet paper is commonly used as napkins at food stalls. Some Cambodians who live abroad will come back, see this, and quickly go off to buy paper towels to give their family and friends in place of the toilet paper. It’s funny, but I think I had that mindset my first week here too, but it really doesn’t matter. It’s economical here, I suppose.
